SC2001

Supercomputing '2001, DENVER.

Saitama University's booth : R661

Abstract:Computational studies and 3-dimensional visualization are shown for the activities of Saitama University in the fields of education and research. Major facilities are:Hitachi SR8000, ONYX3400, VR such as CAVE and LINUX PCs. The 3-dimensional visualization has been the major interest in the education and research in Saitama University. The advanced VR systems such as CAVE etc are used in the exercises for undergraduate students, the open school programs for the middle school students and the public people.

Further_Exhibit_Description:The results of computational studies and 3-dimensional visualization are shown in the panels and video/PC movies. The results are also distributed in the form of boolkets. The major facilities are Hitachi SR8000, ONYX3400 and VR systems such as CAVE. These resources are used not only in the research but also in the education for undergraduate students, the middle schoool students in the one-day open program and the public in the open school programs. The 3-dimensional visualization has been the major interest in these fields of research and education. The 3-dimensional models have been developed by using the 3D software such as AVS, VRML and OpenGL programs. These models are applied in the CAVE system to give the good understanding on the 3-dimensional geometry which can be seen in the fields of cultures, architectures, materials, devises, engineering systems. The 3D images in CAVE are useful even in the lectures such as electromagnetism. Other 3D applications using ChromaDepth, Java etc are also shown, which have been developed and shown in the last 4 years exhibit in SC. Some results are shown in the form of movies on video and PCs.
